How to Clean Dirty Grout Lines

For “Tile Grout cleaning try this method.   In a large spray bottle mix 4 cups of hot water, 2oz of lemon juice, 3oz of baking soda and a 2oz of vinegar.   Spray the mixture on the floor and let it sit for about 2-3 minutes.   Do not let the mixture dry and work small areas.

Use a medium nylon bristle brush to agitate the grout lines.   A hardware store may have one with a handle for a few bucks.   Mop up the solution and then mop the floor again using fresh clean water.   Again, keeping the floor wet until mopping up the solution is important.    For heavier soiled floors a second application may be needed.

The grout may look dark while drying but use a fan to accelerate the drying time.   Always pretest any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous location first.   It’s a  good idea to consult the installers warranty or recommended instructions for care.

After the grout is clean and dry an impregnating type sealer can be used to repel future soiling.   A local floor covering store should have access to this item.   Make sure the floor is completely dry and follow the directions.
